Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) (Amendment) Regulations 2011
On 26th May 2011, the amended Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations came into force which covers electronic marketing such as emails, faxes and text messages. There is also a change to the rules in relation to the use of Cookies on websites. New powers have been introduced for the Information Commissioner to serve monetary penalties and to investigate when the law may have been broken.
